Get to Know Theresa (she/her)

I provide evidence-based treatment for all types of eating disorders, and I specialize in working with those who struggle with Binge Eating Disorder and body image concerns. At Eating and Behavioral Health Associates, I am excited to work with adults through individual, group or couples therapy. My passion is helping people of all shapes and sizes who are struggling with stressors by teaching them how to bring balance to their thinking, eating and behaviors, and by helping them to find compassion and ease in their lives. Over the last decade, I have been dedicated to providing mental health treatment to a variety of individuals. Most of these years, my focus has been on providing evidence-based treatment for all types of eating disorders.

My therapeutic approach includes Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Intuitive Eating, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I am trained in Gottman Method Couples Counseling (Level 2) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is utilized for trauma therapy. I may enhance traditional therapeutic techniques with mindfulness, somatic and expressive arts from Dancing Mindfulness and The Trager® Approach to movement education.
An Ohio native, I received my BA in Sociology from The Ohio State University in 1998, and received my Master of Science Education in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton in 2010. I am an independently licensed professional clinical counselor with supervision designation (LPCC-S) in the state of Ohio and board certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (CCMHC).

I completed my clinical fellowship and delivered evidence-based treatment for adults with eating disorders, mood disorders and personality disorders at The Center for Balanced Living in Columbus, OH. While at The Center, I worked in the Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs, facilitated DBT Skills Training Groups, and presented trainings on Binge Eating Disorders for families and professionals, both locally and nationally. I also served as Director of Support Groups in which I trained and supervised volunteer facilitators.
